Outdoor sports continue to grow in popularity each year, with fishing leading the way. Older fisherman continue to teach younger generations both the joy and responsibilities that come with sport fishing.

Besides being our favorite past time, outdoor sports fishing allows us to enjoy an even bigger benefit, sharing tips with other anglers. Whenever we aren't in our fishing boat, we try to keep this site up to date with our recommendations and advice, to allow you to enjoy the wonderful sport even more.

Whether you're into fly fishing, sea angling, or just boating you'll find resources here that will empower you to get the most from your experience on the water. We spend each summer testing new equipment and trading advice on the lakes, and are happy to share what we learn through this website.

This website and all of it's resources are 100% free to use. The only thing we ask is that you always fish responsibly, and treat both fellow fisherman and the environment with the utmost respect. Although rules & regulations vary by jurisdiction, the code of conduct for anglers is summarized by the following.

10 Commandments of Fishing

1. Respect All Wildlife - Never harm or disturb any wildlife unnecessarily while fishing. Showing respect to waterfowl and wildlife allows the public to continue to use waterways for recreation.

2. Protect The Environment - Always clean up any refuse, and take with you what you brought. Allow the next generation of fisherman to enjoy the same environment that we do.

3. Safety Is Always First - Keep safety in mind at all times when on the water. Boating accidents can be prevented by always using extra caution when your watercraft is underway.

4. Cooperate With Other Anglers - Respecting each others space is the "golden rule" when fishing. Always troll quietly when near other fishermen, and never encroach on another's space.

5. Follow Local Laws - Fish size limits protect fish species, and licenses pay the care taking expenses of public waterways. Following these laws is a small price to pay for enjoying the world's greatest past time!

6. Release The Little Ones - Even though many species have no minimum size limit, it's in very poor taste to keep an immature fish for cleaning. Young fish offer only tiny fillets, and you're removing a large game fish from next season's population.

7. Keep Only What You'll Eat - Only keep the fish you are planning on cleaning. Excess, off-species, or protected fish should be returned unharmed to the water.

8. Share Knowledge With Others - The fishing community is one of sharing. Always be open with your experiences and good advice will find you.

9. Respect Authorities - The conservation law enforcement and supporting staff should be respected at all times. The job they do allows us to enjoy the nation's many waterways and all their fishing splendor!

10. Show Your Appreciation - When fishing on private property, it's considerate and wise to share your catch with the landowner.

Please enjoy the free resources, tips, and recommendations you'll find here. If you're looking for any fish-related information you'll probably find it on this website. Here's a nice fishing joke to tell on your next outing:

One Sunday morning a fisherman eagerly woke up early. Quietly dressing while his wife slept, he layered his long johns under his flannel & jeans, and crept out of the bedroom carrying his boots. Once in the garage, he hooked his boat to the truck, and wandered outside in the darkness. It was then that he noticed the cold, freezing rain pelting down all around him. Returning to the house disappointed, he turned on the weather channel which quickly confirmed his fears. . .an entire day of horrendous weather, with winds up to 60 mph. As quietly as he dressed, he unlayered his fishing clothes and silently lowered into bed behind his wife. Thinking he'd make the best of the situation, the guy snuggled up to his wife and whispered, "the weather outside is horrible, darling". At which point his wife replied, "Yeah. Can you believe my husband is stupid enough to go fishing today?"
